What is never sent anywhere

• Bill and check amounts
• Tip amounts and percentages
• Sales figures
• Cash and credit tip totals
• Employee names, roles and hours
• Saved setups and shift summaries

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. There is no calculation API to call, so these values are never transmitted, never logged and never stored on a server.

The list above is about the calculators, and it holds no matter what else is on the page. The one thing you can send us deliberately is a message from the contact page, described below — and it carries only what you typed into that form.

The travel tip calculator makes one network request, and it is worth describing exactly because it is the only one: it asks this site for today's exchange rates. The request has no parameters — no bill, no tip, no currency pair, nothing about you beyond the fact that a page was loaded. The whole rate table comes back and the conversion is done in your browser, like every other calculation here. Rates are fetched by this site rather than by your browser, so no rate provider ever sees you at all.

What is stored on your device

A short list, all in your browser's local storage on this device only:

• Saved setups — the names, roles, weights and tip-out rules you chose to save.
• The last two shift summaries, if you tapped “Keep for tonight”.
• Your light or dark preference.
• The two currencies you picked on the travel calculator — the one the bill was in and your own — so a second dinner on the same trip does not start from scratch.
• The last exchange-rate table fetched, so the converted figures still appear on a plane. It is a list of currencies and numbers; it says nothing about you.

None of it syncs anywhere. It does not follow you to another phone, because nothing is copying it. Clearing your browser data clears it, and so does this:

What is measured

TYPTAPP counts events so we know which tools people use — for example that a tip out was calculated, or that a weighted pool was opened. The event name is all that is sent, along with, at most, a short category label from a fixed list such as “20”, “weighted” or “dark”.

No amount is ever included in an event. The list of permitted labels is a hard-coded allow list, so a future change cannot start leaking figures by accident. Events are aggregated into daily counts; individual events are not retained. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, nothing is sent at all.

Visitor counts are approximate. They come from a value that mixes the day with a secret this site never publishes, so it cannot be reversed, cannot be checked against a guess, and is different tomorrow for the same person. No address is stored.

If you write to us

The contact form is the only part of this site that stores something you typed. When you send one, we keep what you wrote, the subject you picked, the page you were on, and your email address if you chose to give one — it is optional, and a message without one is simply one we cannot reply to.

It is stored so we can read it and fix what it describes. It is not used for anything else: no mailing list, no profile, no passing it on. Nothing else from the page travels with it — not the bill you had on screen, not the names in a tip pool, not any figure from a calculator. Ask us to delete a message and we will.

Sending it is the only way anything you type here reaches a server, and it happens because you pressed a button that says so.

Advertising

TYPTAPP is free and paid for by display advertising, served by Google AdSense. Where ads are shown, Google and its partners set their own cookies or read device identifiers and apply their own privacy policy: they see the page you are on and your approximate location, as any ad network does. They never see anything you typed into a calculator, because none of it leaves your browser to begin with.

You can review and change what Google uses for ads at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before any of that happens, and your answer is remembered on this device.

Ads are kept out of the calculators themselves: never between an input and its result, never inside a tip-out row or between people in a pool, never beside the controls, and never as a popup, an interstitial or a sticky overlay. Every one is labelled.

No account, ever asked for

There is no sign-up, no email capture and no password. If that ever changes, it will be an addition you opt into, and this page will say so plainly before it does.
